"Not that I know of," Brendan says, shaking his head. "Some of the students who've talked about it... I don't know if they actually went or if they're just saying they did." Neither would really surprise him. Anyone wanting to seem cool or tough or anything like that, it would be a perfect way to, and easy enough to fake. Besides, he wouldn't want to spend too much of a class period grilling students about what they do in their free time. What he picks up are mostly just bits and pieces of things, snippets of information that have started to circulate, potentially already distorted. Whatever facts he gets, he'd rather turn to a somewhat more reliable source. "But yeah, if people really are going and coming back, we're all going to wind up hearing about it. There are probably people with cameras parked over there."
Maybe, he thinks, once he's heard more about it, he'll feel more comfortable going to see it for himself. It's the best way to find anything out; it's just also, at this point in time, too dangerous, too uncertain. "I'd be surprised if there weren't rules, really — a cause and effect, there has to be — it's just hard to figure out when so much of what you used to know doesn't apply anymore. Unfortunately, they don't give you a guidebook on it when you get here."
